  1. A Permanent Resident status is a privilege and not a right. One must maintain the valid status to work and live in the United States. To maintain permanent resident status, one should not:
    1. Live outside of the United for more than one year without obtaining a re-entry permit, or returning resident visa. Lately, a stay of more than 180 has raised doubts with USCIS;
    2. Stay outside of the United States for more than 2 years time period after the issuance of a re-entry permit without obtaining returning resident visa;
    3. Declaring oneself as a “Non-resident” on the Tax Returns;
    4. Failure to file income Tax Return while living outside of the United States for any period of time.
